The ISTQB or the International Software Testing Qualification Board was founded in November 2002 in Edinburgh. The main objective of the ISTQB is to establish one international standard for software testing qualification worldwide.
The ISTQB syllabus has been developed by over 100 software–testing experts worldwide and is currently represented in 43 countries. Each one of these countries has a National ISTQB Testing Qualification Board. All the National Testing Qualification Boards, including ISEB and other supporting examination boards, have adopted the ISTQB Foundation Syllabus.
There are over 100 000 certified software testers worldwide.
You can visit the ISTQB website for more details.
ISEB (Information System Examination Board) initially existed as the NCC (National Computing Centre) since the late sixties. They were later known as the System Analysis Examination Board and had only one certification called the “Systems Analysis and Design Certification”.
In 1989 the System Analysis Examination Board decided to broaden their focus point and to develop other qualifications and decided to change their name to the International System Examination Board (ISEB).
ISEB does not only cater for software testing qualifications but also for other qualifications in various domains.
